Group Offerings

Why are group services beneficial?

Group offerings is the treatment of multiple individuals in a group setting by a clinician. Research has shown that group sessions can be effective in treating a variety of conditions, meeting numerous needs, and can be utilized for all ages. Individuals that join a therapy group will participate in treatment with other similar aged individuals that join group sessions will be paired by similar age, concern, experience, and need.

Spring Groups

Our groups include 30 minutes to 1 hour sessions that meet from July to August in Westbury and Islandia.

Groups are run by qualified clinicians who are trained for the specific needs of the group, and are motivated to foster a safe, accepting, judgment free environment. Groups sizes vary based on topic and will range from 2-10 participants. Handwriting Helpers can run from 1-5 individuals.

Elementary

Brave Buddies

The Brave Buddies Group helps children who struggle to speak in certain social settings because of selective mutism and social anxiety by providing a warm, predictable, and play-based environment where they can practice communication skills at their own pace. Led by trained clinicians, sessions use games, role-play, gradual exposure, and peer modeling to build confidence, reduce avoidance, and teach coping strategies such as breathing, self-talk, and problem-solving. The group emphasizes small, achievable goals, celebrates every step toward speaking and connecting, and fosters friendships so children feel understood, empowered, and less alone in their experiences.

Additional Information: Group runs for 6 weeks beginning 3/3
